Childbirth Fatalities – Why so many?
Women living in poor countries are 300 times more likely to die during
pregnancy or childbirth than if they lived in rich countries, UNICEF
said in a report released Thursday in Johannesburg.
On average, 1,500 women die every day during pregnancy or childbirth,
or about half a million per year, with 95 percent of them in Africa or
Asia. India alone accounts for 22 percent of the global total.
Why is this?
I don't actually mean why is it so uneven between rich and poor societies–but why would so many women die from childbirth complications in the first place? It seems like there's some kind of evolutionary defect involved here. How many female animals in the wild die from childbirth complications?
Any scientists in the house?
Natalie Dylan Auctioning Her Virginity…
Natalie Dylan is selling her virginity online. Intriguingly, the 22-year-old San Diego
woman, who already holds a B.S. in women’s studies, plans to finance
her graduate school education in marriage and family therapy from the
proceeds of the virginity auction. To prove her chastity, she will
undergo a gynecological exam as well as a lie detector test.
For some reason, this doesn’t outrage my like it should. So many people lose their virginity for reasons far stupider than paying for graduate school. Does it make her a whore? Technically, yes. But is that worse than being an idiot girl who gives it up to some jackass guy because he tells her he loves her? From a feminist perspective, I think Natalie is much more in control of her destiny than most girls who are having sex at much younger ages.
Thoughts?
The Human Party.
I am an alien
Its official. I’ve decided that when I had that dream about aliens at around age 7, that I was really experiencing a homecoming.
This could explain why I am so attracted to foil and the flashy lights that appear from my fingers when I get anxious.
Just go with it. All of you.
